CIVIL WAR
Normally, civil war starts in a country because of power politics involving varying number of reasons. Civil war may erupt from fight between two strong groups or number of tribes to seize state power, or from the necessity for earning sovereignty. Administrative inefficiency leading to ragged economic condition and corruption lowering of social values may cause domestic unrests. Too big a state or a state with multiple ethnic nationalities ruled in unity by a dynamic leader may fall apart in due course of time.
A very common ground that provokes civil war can be found in the strife between two equally strong and demanding groups with differing political ideologies to grab the state power. A similar scenario may be observed when a group in opposition wants to oust the government by force. Rift between two tribes or amongst few tribes occurring from power politics is also likely to end up in a civil war. Poverty, deficiency of food, famine like condition, scarcity of land, poor law and order situation, economic crises are roots of civil wars at times. Complementary to this is the bad Governance. This leads to inefficiency and corruption in administration, uncertainty of safety of life and property and deterioration of social values. This provides a scope to anti government elements to mobilize public opinion in their favor and generate movement against the ruling side. Vis-à-vis, government reacts by adopting suppressive measures that further aggravates the already tense political stage. In addition to these, an effort to contain activities of drug cartels renders a good excuse to erupt localized civil war. Attempt to become independent from outside rule in national interest on contrary to the authority's will leads to civil wars. Similar to this is the unrealistic state comprising of different races with divergent culture, language or religion. Such integration can only be imposed under the iron grip of a daunting personality. Demise of this leader brings an end to this virtual union as it steps into violence. Familiar fate showers upon Empires or States those are too big. The moment they get destabilized by any means, disintegration of the races starts. The above reasons, and may be some other unknown causes, have given rise to civil wars in good number countries including some of the highly civilized nations. Few classic examples are; Rwanda, Mozambique, Somalia, Cambodia, Ireland, Bosnia - Croatia - Herzegovina, East Timor in Indonesia, East and West Pakistan, Balkan States, Auto Man Empire etc. Come what may, what ever may be the cause, who so ever may be the beneficiary, who ever is right or wrong; civil war is a human misery and a disgraceful thing. It must be condemned and prevented at all costs by big powers, the UN and other world bodies. |
